The Restful Life

Who am I? 

Text: Isaiah 30:1,15 (p. 590)

When you look in the mirror, deep within who do you  you are? 

The way we answer the question deep within is one of the most  things about us. 

The fundamental problem of the world is that we are attempting to find our  in so many places other than the only place it can be found. 

Restlessness results from refusing to see myself first as a  

 is daily - regularly - seeking to convince each of us who follow Jesus that we are really God's children. (Rm. 8:14-16) 

it's very common for a child to be adopted but still live with the mindset of an  - a mindset that says I am on my own, that I can't rely on anyone else. 

Something in the human spirit  against adoption. 

The work Jesus does in us is far grander, far more glorious than our minds can  (Jn. 1:12-13; Rm. 8:17)

And it's why the spirit must continually bear witness - must remind us - that we're  

Rest is more about what we  than what we do. 

What would it do if, deep within, we embraced and believed we are, at our very foundation, at our very core, we are a
