God is battling that we might truly know the love our hearts ache for (1 Kings 18:20- 40). The battle today, just as it was in the days of Elijah, is against the idolatrous spirit of Baal that defines love as sex without boundaries and child sacrifice. Instead, God designed sex as a powerful tool for oneness in the covenant of marriage. For God, sex is not the essence of love but rather an expression of love. The love our hearts long for is only found in the person of Jesus. This is why Paul prayed that we might have power, together with all the saints, to grasp and truly know how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ (Ephesians 3:17-19).
