The foundation for abundance in our families is prayer (Matthew 7:7-8). The resurrection of Jesus – what we celebrate at Easter – is the D-Day for humanity in our war against Satan and sin. As followers of Jesus, we receive victory over sin, death, and hell. But the war is not over; we will not reach V-Day until Jesus returns. In the meantime, we battle, especially for our families. One key weapon in the battle for our families is prayer. Prayer becomes powerful and effective when we are in close relationship with our Heavenly Father, when we choose to follow Him and become fully His. From this place of relationship, we can boldly and persistently approach Him concerning our families (Matthew 7:9-11; 15:22-28). To the one who asks, our Heavenly Father gives what is good and needed. And if we do not know what to ask Him, Jesus gives us a template and springboard, what is often called the Lord’s Prayer in Matthew 6:9-13.
