Chosen

...for a purpose

Text: Luke 5:1-11 (p. 860)

Why did Jesus make this particular promise - I will make you  - when he could have promised them so many other things?  Mark 1:17

We are born into this world dreaming of being great, almost  believing that our lives are supposed to matter.

But life in this sinful, fallen, world has a way of  the dreams of greatness, of pounding out of us the idea we are meant to matter.

We  the ideas of greatness as the childish fantasies of a kid who doesn't know how the real world works.

Just as much as those first followers of Jesus, we are  for a . Ephesians 1:4; 2:10

You have much  ahead of you.

It is the promise of God for us .

And the only one who can keep that from happening is .

And when they brought their boats to land, they  and .  Luke 5:11

They lived a life of taking  with Jesus.

All we have to do is seek to obey Him, to love Him, to follow Him in all our  and .

We can have - in the words of the 23rd Psalm - a  of  in the presence of our enemy.  And we can help others to sit at that table.
