Passage: 2 Corinthians 8:7-9

Previous Page

Generosity brings joy because of what God does in people for eternity (2 Corinthians 8:7, 9:6-7). In the Old Testament after forty years in the wilderness, God promises Israel land - every place the sole of their feet would tread will be given to them (Joshua 1:3). But the had to possess the land and battle for it. Though the land was promised, it came at a cost. The same is true in our lives. When we give generously or excel in the grace of giving, we reap a harvest. Even non-Christian research supports the idea that it gives to give. Generosity in all areas of our lives is part of what it means to be like Jesus and to know Him better. Our giving produces joy and thanksgiving in our own hearts and in the hearts of those who receive the blessing of our generosity. Our giving makes an impact for the Kingdom of God.

Generosity in all areas of our lives is part of what it means for us to be like . (2 Cor. 8:9)

God will take something as temporary as  and use it to grow us to be more like Him. (2 Cor. 9:10)

Through growing in the grace of , we know our God better and better. We become more and more like Him.

brings  because of what God does in people for eternity.

"Thanks be to God! He gives us the  through our Lord Jesus Christ." 1 Cor. 15:57
