Our Team

Chris Hoover

Facilities Director

I am an Abilene local; I grew up mowing yards in the Texas sun. After high school, I worked as a mechanic, prison guard, associate then manager at an auto parts store, and then building ATA cases at a local company. I then applied and began working at Beltway in a custodial and maintenance role. When the yard position opened, the Director of Facilities asked if I could do it. I moved into working in the yard. When the Director position opened in 2021, I applied and was promoted into the position. One of the greatest things about this job is our team. Our team has a heart of service, and they have a desire to help others.

I grew up in the church, but did not have a relationship with Jesus, the Father, or Holy Spirit. I started coming to Beltway in late 2011 due to the offer of Sunday lunch with my family. After entering the building and walking down the hall I noticed a poster that said something like, “In 2011 we will give 22% of our budget to missions and outreach.”  I thought that was interesting and thought about that as I started to attend Beltway. I decided if this was true, they must really believe what they say. In January there was a financial meeting in the Worship Center where Pastor David outlined where they spent their money, and I saw that they did what they said they would. Later that year I started going to a life group and on October 4, 2012, my life changed. I met Holy Spirit and met Jesus not as a historical figure, but as a real and living God. In 2013, I started leading with the youth ministry. Over the next six years I led a group of guys from middle schoolers to high schoolers, and finally through graduating.

Near the end of my student’s high school season, I started dating my now wife. Abby and I met in 2014, but didn’t start dating until 2017. We got married in February of 2019, and had our son at the end of 2022. God’s faithfulness has been evident in every challenge and fear we have faced, turning trials and fears into blessings and praise. The Father hasn’t answered every prayer in the way we wanted, but he has brought us to a well-watered place.

My hobbies include fixing or upgrading things. I have a 1996 Subaru Legacy that I will build into the car I dream it to be. I enjoy building and upgrading computers and or anything else I can get my hands on. Generally. I believe that the way the manufacturer sold something is only the base that it starts as, not what it should be.
