Unity
Read Ephesians 1: 3-7 TPT with UNITY in mind:
3 Every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realm has already been lavished upon us as a love gift from our wonderful heavenly Father, the Father of our Lord Jesus—all because he sees us wrapped into Christ. This is why we celebrate him with all our hearts!
4 And he chose us to be his very own, joining us to himself even before he laid the foundation of the universe! Because of his great love, he ordained us, so that we would be seen as holy in his eyes with an unstained innocence.
5–6 For it was always in his perfect plan to adopt us as his delightful children, through our union with Jesus, the Anointed One, so that his tremendous love that cascades over us would glorify his grace — for the same love he has for his Beloved One, Jesus, he has for us. And this unfolding plan brings him great pleasure!
7 Since we are now joined to Christ, we have been given the treasures of redemption by his blood—the total cancellation of our sins—all because of the cascading riches of his grace. 8 This superabundant grace is already powerfully working in us, releasing within us all forms of wisdom and practical understanding.
WOW and it keeps on going!
Now, picture yourself sitting in the most beautiful place you can imagine… there’s no worries, no agenda, no issues, just peace! A place where the whole atmosphere could be described by two words: “PERFECT REST”.
Just recently, I woke up from a “PERFECT REST” dream with three words that I know God had placed on my heart in connection with that dream.
- Unity
- Obedience
- Wisdom
In this life, in some way or another we are all regularly dealing with some kind of uncertainty or hardship. This season specifically, we have all been hit by a wave of hardship that is affecting all of us in different ways. But with all the uncertainty and unknown, there is one thing that is absolutely certain and perfectly constant: our UNITY with Father God! (Colossians 3: 1-4)
Where does this UNITY come from? JESUS
“For it is not from man that we draw our life but from God as we are being joined to Jesus, the Anointed One. And now he is our God-given wisdom, our virtue, our holiness, and our redemption. And this fulfills what is written: If anyone boasts, let him only boast in all that the Lord has done!”
1 Corinthians 1:30-31 TPT
Because of Jesus, we now have a perfect relationship with God and (Romans 5 - go check it out!) is our living reality! Our relationship with God is unbreakable, unshakable, complete and perfect!
UNITY - This has been the one word that God has invited me to pursue during this season. I have found that it is so much more than just a word. God has revealed to me that UNITY is where HIS LIFE is found and HIS LIFE is true reality.
God wants his children to not just know about our UNITY with him but to experience and live from our UNITY with him. As God’s family, let’s join together in pursuing this powerful, life-changing word. God is inviting us to pursue, experience and rest in perfect UNITY with him.
Pursuing this seemingly simple word has awakened my heart to the reality that our UNITY with God is an eternal journey of seeking, finding and experiencing “PERFECT REST”. And because of our UNITY with God, we are hidden within the “I AM”! Our true life is found completely whole in His NAME! So we really can trust Him with all things and in all things.
God does not want us to see ourselves apart from Him! Now the real challenge for us is believing that He really has made this thing happen!
We all want to experience God’s incredible promises in our lives. Sometimes it’s easy to get focused on an all-out pursuit of God’s promises, gifts, blessings, breakthrough etc. which can unintentionally cause us to bypass, neglect or turn away from our UNITY with God. That’s why UNITY is so important! God’s promises only come through our UNITY/ONENESS/RELATIONSHIP with HIM.
Oh yeah! Back to my dream, I feel like God was revealing this to me: If I will passionately pursue my UNITY/ONENESS with Him, He will teach me His OBEDIENCE and I will experience/reveal Heaven’s WISDOM!
UNITY HAS TO COME FIRST in EVERYTHING!
When our perspective isn’t UNITY, we will forget His faithfulness in what he has done, we will miss out on what he is doing in the moment and we will always be trying to find something we already have in Him.
Rest in UNITY —> Learn Obedience —> Experience/Reveal Heaven’s Wisdom = Perfect Rest!
Knowing and resting in our UNITY with God is the key that unlocks the path of experiencing the fullness of HIS KINGDOM!
With all encouragement and hope, my prayer is no matter where you are at or what is happening in your life, you would remember, receive and rest in your UNITY with God.
Something Practical: This may sound simple but it has been huge for me! When the hard moments hit (big or small) - when you are overwhelmed by your thoughts and feelings:
- Pause - Breathe - Remember God - Receive from God - Walk in God
- And when the slump hits or tries to, because it does - do it all again!
Reflection Questions:
- Do you believe and trust in your UNITY with God?
- Are you living from your UNITY with God?
Action Steps:
- Ask God to reveal your UNITY with him as you read the bible. (Read Ephesians)
- Talk to God about any distrust or ask a friend for truthful encouragement and to pray with you.
