God Speaks in Various Ways

Power in Remembering

Psalm 126

When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dream. Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with shouts of joy; then they said among the nations, “The Lord has done great things for them.” The Lord has done great things for us; we are glad. Restore our fortunes, O Lord, like streams in the Negeb! Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy!  He who goes out weeping, bearing the seed for sowing, shall come home with shouts of joy, bringing his sheaves with him.

I might be the only one (sarcasm font), but this season has been one where it feels like I am having to constantly fight for joy and for faith. It has been easy to look at everything going on in the world, and immediately feel doom and gloom. What that has often caused in my life is that it has been harder to pray big, bold, faith filled prayers. About 2 months ago I stumbled upon the song God of Revival by Bethel. I love it. It is this simple constant declaration of how great, big, powerful, and miracle working that our God is.

            Your power has no end.

There’s no prison wall you can’t break through.

            No mountain you cant move.

            No body you can’t raise.

No soul that you can’t save.

All things are possible. Death is overcome.

            You’ve already won!

Those are some incredible declarations on who our God is, and each one is backed up by stories from scripture that back it up. There is such power in remembering. Power in remembering the miracles that God has done. Power in remembering His might. Power in remembering all that He is capable of. In each of our lives, no matter the circumstances we might be faced with in this current season, God has done great things!

Psalm 126:3 - The Lord has done great things for us; we are glad!

Joy is often a byproduct of us shifting our mindsets from the mess of a world that we live in to the greatness of a God that we serve. We also then are more confident in praying big, bold, faith filled prayers, because He has done incredible things before, and He will again!

Begin to think about your life. What are some ways the Lord has moved? Times that He provided? Times where you needed comfort and He showed that He is the comforter? Remember! There is power in remembering. For me, the easiest way for me to not gloss over the ways the Lord has moved is to actually write them out and talk about them. It will only take you a few minutes, but once we start to list out the great things He has done, we are filled with joy and boldness.

Then declare them to people! Go to social media, send a text message, make a phone call, and declare the greatness of God. There is power in us remembering publicly, because it increases the faith and joy of the people around us. When I hear what the Lord has done in someone else’s life, it fills me up with confidence that He is who He said He is, and He will do what He said He will do!

I encourage you this week to listen to this song: God of Revival
